The Passport of Story

The Passport of Story is your key to a magical weekend. For only $10 you will receive your very own Passport and become a story adventurer. Attend Festival events, complete the tasks set in the Passport and win a 'badge' of story. Complete the final riddle and go into the draw to win a 'mysterious' prize. Festival Opening

Be part of the fun filled and exciting Festival opening extravaganza at the Artworks Theatre. Featuring Annie Forbes and Tim Denton, two of Australasia's top puppeteers and their 'Little Miss Muffett Show', Tanya Batt & Craig Denham and surprise guests. Tickets limited so be in quick. Family $30 or $10 person.

The Queen of Waiheke

It's the Queen's birthday weekend and we're celebrating with a ' Queen of Waiheke' Roulette wheel. 'Buy' yourself a Queen and win a ride on the processional throne and the title of 'Queen of Waiheke'. This interactive art installation has been created by various community groups and will be toured about the various venues taking part in the Festival.

1001 Nights - An Arabian Fantasy

Every night Scheherazade performs tongue--ilingus. Her quest to save her life and the lives of others hangs on the golden thread of story. Herein lies a tale '... of desire, desperate jinns, the karma of old slippers, farting husbands and of a kiss you'll never be able to forget. Enjoy the Arabian Nights and be seduced by story with storyteller Tanya Batt and musician Craig Denham. Those attending are encouraged to dress in all things Arabian.

Korimako's Quest

Korimako has lost her song and you are invited to come had help her find it again. The story adventure takes place in our beautiful regional park, Whakanewha. With the help of the ARC and Waiheke's Bird & Forest, a quest has been developed which will see groups being lead through the park on an intriguing adventure. There you will meet both the villains and best beloved creatures of the New Zealand bush, all played by talented Waiheke thespians including the wonderful Warwick Broadhead. This will be a free event with sessions being run at 10am, 11am, 1pm and 2pm on Monday 7th June. Group sizes are limited and people are urged to arrive early to secure a place. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and to enjoy the magic of the park.

Stories for Matariki

Matariki is the Maori New Year. Join us on the Piritahi Marae to celebrate with an afternoon of storytelling and song presented by the local community. Powhiri at 3pm, please be prompt.

Artworks with Story

This is a wonderful morning of story involving the entire Artworks community. Explore story through film, radio, theatre, music, puppetry, literature, art and recycling. Help make a story blanket, unravel the story of paper, tell your story live on Radio and much more. Featuring an interactive film made by local children 'W is for Waiheke', Playback Theatre, Annie Forbes & Tim Denton, Drama-bility, the Nursery Rhyme Trail, Japanese Kamishibai and the launch of Imagined Worlds new CD ' Elemental'. Passport of Story required.

Magical Kingdoms

Stories are filled with magical places. In conjunction with the Red Shed Arts Collective we're creating a children's art exhibition called "Magical Kingdoms" which will be opened on Saturday afternoon. The exhibition will feature art works created by the children of Waiheke, exhibited alongside those created by the adult members of the Red Shed. Join us at this iconic Waiheke art gallery.
